What
are hydrocodone drugs?
Hydrocodone drugs are powerful pharmaceutical
narcotics. They are analgesics, which means they are
used to treat pain. Hydrocodone drugs are also antitussives,
which means that they can prevent coughing. Structurally,
hydrocodone drugs are very similar to codeine, and hydrocodone
drugs produce effects close to the effects of morphine.
Because hydrocodone drugs are easily available and create
feelings of euphoria, they are commonly abused. Drugs
that contain hydrocodone include Lorcet®, Vicodin®,
Anexsia®, Lortab®, Tussionex®, Hycodan®,
Tylox®, and Vicoprofen® and Hycomine®. Hydrocodone
drugs are available as syrups, capsules, and tablets.
Usually hydrocodone drugs are taken orally. Hydrocodone
is an extremely addictive substance and can have potent
side effects as well as unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.
If you are addicted to hydrocodone, or if someone you

What are the symptoms of a hydrocodone
overdose?
Hydrocodone overdose can cause serious
consequences, including death. The effects of hydrocodone
can last for many hours. If more hydrocodone is ingested
than the body can process, hydrocodone overdose occurs.
If a hydrocodone overdose is suspected, medical treatment
should be sough immediately because a hydrocodone overdose
can be fatal. Symptoms of hydrocodone overdose include
pinpoint pupils, slow and/or shallow and/or labored
breathing, decreased heart rate, clammy skin, blue tint
to the skin, extreme drowsiness, loss of consciousness,
heavy sweating, dizziness, disorientation, seizure,
vomiting and stomach spasms, and coma.
About hydrocodone abuse
Hydrocodone abuse commonly occurs,
because of hydrocodone has pleasurable effects and is
extremely addictive. Hydrocodone acts on the body like
codeine or morphine in that it causes feelings of euphoria
and an artificial feeling of well-being. Hydrocodone
abuse commonly becomes hydrocodone addiction, because
hydrocodone is both psychologically and mentally addictive.
Most commonly, hydrocodone is taken orally in capsule,
tablet, or syrup form. Some people who are addicted
to similar opiate drugs switch to hydrocodone abuse.
Because hydrocodone is typically taken orally, it is
considered to be “safer” than injecting
similar opiates, as injection creates risk of contracting
blood-borne disease. Unfortunately, hydrocodone abuse
is still very dangerous even when the abuse occurs by
swallowing rather than injecting the drug. Adverse effects
of hydrocodone abuse include development of tolerance
to hydrocodone and addiction to hydrocodone.
